Multi-award winning artist Sjava has started his own record label and will release an album in August.
Sjava, who has recently left the controversial Ambitiouz Entertainment has teamed up with Producer Ruff Nkosi to launch 1020 Cartel.
“Ruff and I are really excited about launching this label because at the core, we’re activating a movement which promotes excellence in the arts, collaboration and creating value for everyone involved.” Said Sjava.
The ‘uMama’ singer will release a collaborative album called ‘iSambulo’, which means “The Revelation” on August 28.
“I have so much faith in the four artists we are working with.” said the singer.
Four new artists have been signed to the 1020 Cartel stable, namely vocalist Yallunder, rapper Anzo, poet Nue-Sam and Maskandi artist Mzukulu, who will all make an appearance on iSambulo.
“It has been an inspiring experience putting together the unique talents of each artist on this one project.” Said co-owner Ruff.
“The sounds are perfectly blended, and the end result is smooth and clean.” He concluded.
The album will be available for pre-order from all major digital streaming servers from Friday, 7 August.
There will be an exclusive new song that will be released every week leading up to the full album release for those how have pre-orders.
The duo has established 1020 Management, the operations and strategy arm of the 1020 group
Sjava follows the likes of Emtee and Fifi Cooper who started their own record labels after departing from Ambitious Entertainment.
